Cody C. Smith
CFP®, CBEC®, CEPA®
Cody joined Summit Financial Group in 2006 – the year of the firm’s inception. For the first 5 years of his career, he served as Summit’s Director of Planning and designed all the comprehensive financial plans for the firm’s clients. The technical knowledge gained from working on those plans is invaluable for his work today. Eventually Cody’s gift for problem solving and creative thinking led him to join in an advisory practice working alongside Nathan Bennett as a Financial Advisor. Together they have been helping business owners, professionals, and families pursue and maintain financial independence. Cody’s analytical skills make him naturally adept at working on exit and succession planning for private business owners.
In addition to being a Financial Advisor, Cody is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and is involved with client portfolio design and construction. He enjoys designing bespoke portfolios based on a client’s specific and unique planning needs.
To continually hone his expertise, he has obtained several professional designations (the alphabet soup behind his name) and participates in ongoing education. He is also a member of Premier Resource Group (PRG), an organization of elite advisors across the nation within his broker-dealer’s network. This organization helps to organize a shared platform to increase their expertise in an evolving industry.
On the personal front, Cody grew up in the Willamette Valley of Oregon near the city of Salem. He has passion for being active in the outdoors and enjoys playing soccer, skiing, and fly fishing. He and his wife Erica reside in Walnut Creek along with their two daughters, Charlotte and Claire. His proudest accomplishment is being a father and husband, and cherishes spending time with his family.
Cody holds CA Insurance Lic. #0G88314, and 6, 7, and 63 securities registrations. He is a Registered Representative and Investment Advisor Representative with Securian Financial Services, Inc. TR# 4423554 DOFU 03/2022
