Nathan was there with Steve and Don when Summit was just a sketch on a restaurant napkin. The Summit journey has been the biggest challenge and the greatest joy of his professional career. After 15 years advising clients, the puzzle presented by each situation is still fun and exciting to Nate. Piecing together a plan to help clients achieve their goals brings great satisfaction and has led to many meaningful relationships.

His clients are private business owners, successful professionals, and their families. Nathan best describes his role as “financial quarterback” where he helps them see the entirety of their financial life and make decisions accordingly. Be it the pursuit of financial independence, the need for three decades of retirement income, or the desire to leave a legacy, a big part of his gig involves building strategies that allocate resources to accomplish those goals.

In addition, Nathan is highly knowledgeable in the field of Exit and Succession Planning for business owners. For many owners, their business is their single largest – albeit illiquid- asset. Evaluating the various methods one can use to exit a company can be a big challenge. Nathan is regularly asked to speak on the topic, and he finds educating owners and their professional advisors to be some of his most enjoyable work.

Making a difference means as much to Nathan as his client work. He’s known as Coach Nate at the STRETCH baseball camp, and on the fields of Pleasanton where he coaches baseball and softball. His work with Rooms of Hope – a charity that performs room makeovers for children fighting serious illness – is a source of both pride and humble gratitude. Nathan speaks with high school students when possible about financial literacy, the markets, and individual investing. He’s hoping a few more young people will head into the real world with a financial clue as a result!

Nathan and his wife Melissa live in Pleasanton with two kids, two dogs, and plenty of sports equipment.  Weekends are often spent on a field or court cheering their kids, or running around in a league of their own.  Nate’s favorite way to relax is knee-deep in a trout stream, with a fly rod in hand – preferably where cell phones don’t work. He calls it his passion while Melissa sometimes refers to it as an addiction. Meetings have been known to run long when the topic of fishing trips comes up!

Nathan holds CA Insurance Lic. #0D05265 and is a Registered Representative and Investment Advisor Representative of Securian Financial Services, Inc. Member FINRA/SIPC. Summit Financial Group is independently owned and operated. TR# 3669574 DOFU 07/2021.
